Per\u00f2 la hist\u00f2ria ens demostra tamb\u00e9 que hi ha formes m\u00e9s sibil\u00b7lines d&#8217;invisibilitzar all\u00f2 que interessa que no es conegui. En el pr\u00f2leg no publicat a <em>Animal Farm [La rebel\u00b7li\u00f3 dels animals]<\/em>, George Orwell escrivia que &#8220;les idees impopulars, poden ser silenciades i els fets desagradables ocultar-se, sense necessitat de cap prohibici\u00f3 oficial&#8221;. En el nostre present de sobreproducci\u00f3 de propostes art\u00edstiques i culturals \u00e9s m\u00e9s f\u00e0cil invisibilitzar quelcom que no \u00e9s considera &#8220;apropiat&#8221; que no pas generar un gran gest p\u00fablic de negaci\u00f3 que, sovint, acaba tenint un efecte amplificador, l&#8217;anomenat efecte Streisand.<\/p>\n<p>En ocasions, una cancel\u00b7laci\u00f3 pot ser el detonant d&#8217;un nou treball. L&#8217;any 1988, el programa cultural per excel\u00b7l\u00e8ncia de TVE, <em>Metropolis<\/em>, va convidar Antoni Muntadas a produir un treball nou. L&#8217;artista va explorar durant un parell d&#8217;anys els arxius de TVE (testimoni clau de la hist\u00f2ria m\u00e9s recent de l&#8217;Estat espanyol) que va trobar en un absolut aband\u00f3 i des\u00eddia. Va observar tamb\u00e9 com la ret\u00f2rica visual dedicada al rei Juan Carlos I no era gaire diferent de la de Franco. Amb tot aquest material, Muntadas va lliurar el seu treball <em>TVE: primer intento<\/em>, un v\u00eddeo de 40 minuts que el programa mai va emetre sense donar explicacions.<\/p>\n<p>Aquella situaci\u00f3, que l&#8217;artista va identificar com un cas flagrant de censura, va ser el detonant de <em>The File Room<\/em>, (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefileroom.org\/\">www.thefileroom.org<\/a>) un treball encara en actiu, que recull en l\u00ednia casos de censura art\u00edstica i cultural, des de l&#8217;Antiga Gr\u00e8cia fins a l&#8217;actualitat i que es nodreix de nous incidents que incorporen els usuaris. L&#8217;arxiu, origin\u00e0riament produ\u00eft per la Randolph Street Gallery de Chicago i la Universitat de Illinois (Chicago), \u00e9s des de l&#8217;any 2001, allotjat i mantingut en l\u00ednia per la National Coalition Against Censorship, radicada als Estats Units.<\/p>\n<p>Els llibres, com a s\u00edmbols de generaci\u00f3 de coneixement, han estat (i s\u00f3n) objecte de censura, prohibici\u00f3 i crema. Ho recollia Ray Bradbury en la seva dist\u00f2pia <em>Farenheit 451<\/em> que parlava de control, de prohibici\u00f3 dels llibres i de la por a pensar per un mateix. Hi ha artistes que hi reflexionen, com Marta Minuj\u00edn a <em>The Parthenon of Books<\/em> (literalment un Partenon fet amb llibres censurats, que es va presentar a Documenta 2017 davant del Museu Fridericianum) o Miquel Garc\u00eda (<em>List of books burned in Germany in 1933<\/em>, els t\u00edtols dels quals es podien llegir, precisament en aplicar-hi una font de calor, el foc que els havia fet desapar\u00e8ixer, els tornava a fer visibles).<\/p>\n<p>Hi ha artistes que no aborden directament la censura com a tema, per\u00f2 que aprofundeixen en temes que creen friccions. \u00c9s el cas de N\u00faria G\u00fcell, quan explora aspectes relacionats amb el finan\u00e7ament (a <em>Arte pol\u00edtico degenerado, protocolo \u00e9tico<\/em>, 2014, va crear, juntament amb Levi Orta, una societat an\u00f2nima en un parad\u00eds fiscal, amb els diners de producci\u00f3 d&#8217;un centre d&#8217;art p\u00fablic. Un temps despr\u00e9s va donar la gesti\u00f3 de l&#8217;empresa amb tots els seus avantatges a un grup d&#8217;activistes que desenvolupaven un projecte de societat aut\u00f2noma al marge de les din\u00e0miques capitalistes); amb les condicions de treball de les artistes (a <em>Afrodita<\/em>, 2017 va destinar el pressupost de producci\u00f3 d&#8217;una exposici\u00f3 a pagar les quotes de la Seguretat Social durant set mesos, per tal de poder cobrar les prestacions durant la seva baixa per maternitat); amb la reinserci\u00f3 dels presos (<em>Human resources<\/em>, 2022, en la que presos alemanys podien accedir a un treball per\u00f2 que en ser en una instituci\u00f3 cultural no podia ser remunerat sin\u00f3 compensat en forma d&#8217;una invitaci\u00f3 a dinar pizza i Fanta).<\/p>\n<p>Altres artistes, com Santiago Sierra, utilitzen la controv\u00e8rsia com a eina creativa per a generar un efecte altaveu de les seves obres. Sierra aprofundeix en temes molt cr\u00edtics i ho fa des de relats, que ja en els seus t\u00edtols, generen pol\u00e8mica: <em>Muro de 137.400 litros de agua del Mediterr\u00e1neo<\/em>, 2022; <em>Escudo nacional de Espa\u00f1a estampado en sangre<\/em>, 12\/10\/2021; <em>No (Rey de Espa\u00f1a)<\/em>, 2019; <em>Presos pol\u00edticos en la Espa\u00f1a contempor\u00e1nea<\/em>, 2018; <em>697 cr\u00edmenes de estado<\/em>, 2018; <em>Veterano de guerra de Afganist\u00e1n de cara a la pared<\/em>, 2011; <em>Enterramiento de diez trabajadores<\/em>, 2010; entre altres.<\/p>\n<p>Per\u00f2, no hi ha dubte que la pitjor censura, la m\u00e9s efectiva, \u00e9s l&#8217;autocensura, la por a dir o fer all\u00f2 que no \u00e9s apropiat, que pot no agradar, que pot incomodar, que no \u00e9s pol\u00edticament correcte o que pot ser objecte de cr\u00edtica a l&#8217;esfera p\u00fablica, aix\u00f2 \u00e9s, a les xarxes socials.
