Els canvis infinitesimals i les mesures s\u00f3n els principals punts de partida a l&#8217;hora de definir els seus projectes. Una de les coses que tenen en com\u00fa els \u00e0mbits cient\u00edfic i art\u00edstic \u00e9s la curiositat, la de partir de preguntes concretes. Oli d\u2019una olivera (Oli d&#8217;una olivera) parteix d&#8217;una pregunta que pot semblar ing\u00e8nua i per aix\u00f2 mateix \u00e9s capa\u00e7 de desencadenar un fascinant proc\u00e9s de recerca: Quant oli surt d&#8217;una olivera? El proc\u00e9s que ha condu\u00eft a la formalitzaci\u00f3 final del projecte ha estat molt semblant a la de la producci\u00f3 de l&#8217;oli. Si la producci\u00f3 d&#8217;oli implica un filtrat de residus, la producci\u00f3 d&#8217;Oli d\u2019una olivera (Oli d&#8217;una olivera) ha comportat un filtrat d&#8217;idees i variables.<\/p>\n<p>A l&#8217;inici del proc\u00e9s, Vidal va partir de la import\u00e0ncia del control de la producci\u00f3 fins a portar aquesta m\u00e0xima a l&#8217;extrem: per qu\u00e8 no maximitzar la producci\u00f3 d&#8217;oli i minimitzar la mida de l&#8217;arbre que produeix les olives? A partir de la pregunta, quant oli produeix una olivera bonsai? I quant oli produeix una olivera tradicional? va posar en relaci\u00f3 una olivera concreta, plantada a la zona del Baix Pened\u00e8s i una olivera bonsai que el mateix artista va comprar. La relaci\u00f3 dels tramanys de diferents objectes o sistemes que presenten similituds i difer\u00e8ncies ja havia ocupat projectes anteriors de l&#8217;artista. Recordem f(t) = f(t-t\u00ba) (comissariat per Marina Vives a la Capella de Sant Roc, Valls, 2015) en qu\u00e8 va posar un bonsai de vuit anys sobre la terra que necessitaria si no s&#8217;hagu\u00e9s modificat en bonsai o Un humil mitj\u00f3 (Fundaci\u00f3 T\u00e0pies, 2010 ), T\u00e0pies, entre d&#8217;altres.<\/p>\n<p>En el fons, el m\u00e9s significatiu de la comparaci\u00f3, o dit altrament, el nexe que uneix olivera i bonsai \u00e9s l&#8217;artificiositat. L&#8217;artificiositat a qu\u00e8 l&#8217;home sotmet el bonsai per controlar-ne la mida i l&#8217;artificiositat a qu\u00e8 l&#8217;home sotmet a l&#8217;olivera, plantat en un entorn concret perqu\u00e8 produeixi les olives que donaran lloc a l&#8217;oli, un oli que guarda una estreta relaci\u00f3 amb l&#8217;origen.<\/p>\n<p>Mesurar era i \u00e9s l&#8217;ess\u00e8ncia del projecte, per\u00f2 mesurar tamb\u00e9 implica la impossibilitat de ser prec\u00eds. I descartada l?opci\u00f3 d?una premsada tradicional de la producci\u00f3 d?una \u00fanica olivera, l?arternativa va ser una premsada do it yourself, casolana i manual, i de la qual, com en tot experiment, apareixen els descobriments: els residus, els s\u00f2lids i els l\u00edquids. El que \u00e9s m\u00e9s valu\u00f3s, l&#8217;oli, es calibra i pesa amb la m\u00e0xima precisi\u00f3 i professionalitat possibles i amb certificat incl\u00f2s.
